“Pope Benedict presided over Vespers on Saturday to mark the reopening of the Pauline Chapel in the Vatican palace. The chapel has been being restored for the past seven years, and it includes Michelangelo’s Conversion of Saint Paul and Crucifixion of Saint Peter.
“During his homily, the Pope said that Peter and Paul are teachers of the faith, who with the manner of their deaths invite the Church to ponder the mystery of the cross.
“The Pope said the frescos in the chapel are a solemn hymn to the victory of life and Gods grace over death and sin.
“Turning his attention to Michelangelo’s masterpieces, the Pope says the face of Paul shows that being human is to want the light of a higher power, …”

President Barack Obama is willing to sit down with any tin horn terrorist who dreams of nuking the United States but doesn’t want to talk with Republicans.
This article in The Washington Times on Obama’s push to fast track his health care policy points out his efforts to circumvent Republicans input into the process.

President Barack Obama now says it’s time for Washington to tighten its belt. I guess he’s already run out of future generations’ money to spend.
He made a couple good points.
Obama’s administration inherited a $1.4 trillion deficit this year alone. He didn’t mention that budget was passed by congress controlled by Democrats. He added that his administration has found $2 trillion in savings over the next decade. That’s seven years to make up this year’s deficit — not including interest.
Another interesting point, Obama said in the next few weeks his administration will find more than 100 government programs that can be cut or eliminated. How does he know that there are 100 programs? Why not 1,000? Where does he get this number? Is it from his speech writer because it sounds good? If he knows about them now, let’s get moving on them now.
