President Barack Obama now says it’s time for Washington to tighten its belt. I guess he’s already run out of future generations’ money to spend.
He made a couple good points.
Obama’s administration inherited a $1.4 trillion deficit this year alone. He didn’t mention that budget was passed by congress controlled by Democrats. He added that his administration has found $2 trillion in savings over the next decade. That’s seven years to make up this year’s deficit — not including interest.
Another interesting point, Obama said in the next few weeks his administration will find more than 100 government programs that can be cut or eliminated. How does he know that there are 100 programs? Why not 1,000? Where does he get this number? Is it from his speech writer because it sounds good? If he knows about them now, let’s get moving on them now.
Color me skeptical…

Americans spend a fortune on health care, if they need it and can afford it. Insurance premiums are through the roof and causing many businesses to reconsider employee coverage. I’ve never understood why we have a system set up that almost forces us to get health coverage through an employer. We don’t do that for auto or homeowners’ insurance, why would we do that for our health?

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif. 27th District, Sherman Oaks, Northridge) grills Neel Kashkari, Interim Assistant Treasury Secretary for Financial Stability, about whether three million dollar bonuses for AIG employees meet “appropriate standards of executive compensation” as mandated by congress.
Even though the arctic caps are melting and the oceans are rising, we’re facing global water shortages. This video has a catchy song, a dire warning and one solution for today’s drinking water problems.
How many times can the politicians get this wrong? I don’t know, they’re still working on it.
The bank bailout just keeps getting worse. Maybe the economy would get better if the we let the companies run by incompetence and greed get thinned out.
